In this blogpost, I put together a list of seven of our family’s favorite quality Christian children’s books.
Why Read To Your Children?
We all know the importance of reading to your kids from an early age. Many studies have shown how valuable this is, not only in your children’s development, but it is also a special way to bond with them.
Born within six years, our family consists of one girl and three boys. I can honestly say all my children have enjoyed reading these books from babies on up! A few of them were even my favorite as a child. All of these books have good moral lessons and point to Biblical Truth. This list ranges in age from babies to preteen.

The List of Seven Books
#1. The Beginners Bible is perfect for baby and preschool age. This Bible covers stories of the Bible in a way that is easy to understand and read.
#2. The Berenstain Bears Faith Series. Did you know that the Berenstain Bears has a faith based series? We love the Berenstain Bear books, and I am grateful that they made a whole series of Christian themed books.
#3. Adam Raccoon Series. This is a classic series from the 90’s. All my children love Adam Raccoon. He is a playful Raccoon who is always trying to do things on his own and King Aaron continues to forgive and rescue him again and again. Each book is based on a parable from the Bible. This is a link to the series, but they are also sold individually on Amazon.
#4. The Treasure Tree. This is another book I grew up with. My copy is starting to fall apart because I have read it out loud to my children so many times. This book is a lesson on friendship and how God makes each person unique with different gifts and abilities. There is a lot of cute humor in it as the four animal friends figure out how to work together. A Psalm is also incorporated at the end of each chapter.
#5. You Are Special. I have always loved this book! The overarching message is that you are made for a purpose and you only need to care about what your Creator (God) thinks of you. The premise of this book is that wooden people judge each other by giving stars or dots based on their talents. One day, a wooden person named Punchinello (who has a lot of dots) meets a wooden girl named Lucy who doesn’t have any stars or dots. How do the stars and dots not stick? It’s because she visited her Maker everyday.
#6. Little Pilgrims Big Journey 1& 2. We just discovered this set and all I can say is WOW. Little Pilgrims Big Journey 1 & 2 is based off of John Bunyan’s Pilgrims Progress books. These books have cultivated deep discussion with my children that is invaluable. I could not recommend enough.
#7. The Action Bible. My boys really enjoy this Bible. I would not recommend using this as your children’s only Bible because it is in comic form. I do think it is a good one for your older children to read through for their enjoyment. The illustrations are excellent and it is a very engaging read since it is set up like a comic book. I find my boys just sitting and looking through this one in their free time.
I hope I introduced you to a few new books your family can enjoy together. What a great way to end the day with God’s Truth on your childrens minds as they fall asleep. The Bible says to fill your mind with good things. “Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.”- Philippians 4:8

I have had a few of these in my Amazon shopping cart for a while and just haven’t hit purchase yet. And I had no clue there was a faith based Berenstein Bears!! Definitely checking it out.

Oh my goodness, absolutely love this list! I had no idea Bearenstein Bears had some Christian books! I have 20+ from when I was little that are now in my 2 year old daughter’s ‘library’, I’ll have to check that one out. Thank you so much!
