Christian Resources for Families With Children

Sharing is caring!

As a Christian parent, I am always looking for quality Christian resources for my family.  In a media saturated world, it is encouraging to know that there are solid, Biblical resources out there for families, creating quality content with Christian Values for children and parents.

About My Family

My husband and I are Christians and have both been involved in, and have worked in some sort of children’s ministry throughout our lives.  That’s actually how we met.  We were volunteering half way across the world at a kids camp in Eastern Europe sharing the good news of God’s Word.  Fast forward 10 + years and here we are with four children of our own desiring to grow them up in Biblical truth with a solid foundation.

Resources

PureFlix

When our children were little, we decided to find an alternative to Netflix.  Instead we invest in Pureflix. Pureflix has a lot of quality, clean content that is family friendly, and faith based.  What great peace of mind for a parent. There are also a variety of options to chose from for the whole family, even older kids.

Answers in Genesis

If you haven’t heard of Answers in Genesis, visit their website right now and check out all of their amazing resources!  Their kids content is very intentional and thought out.  We have gone on adventures with Buddy Davis and the Wild Brothers, and have been educated on subjects such as a literal 6 day creation, dinosaurs, evolution, the ice age and more.  Answers in Genesis has many free resources for kids on their website and for parents on their parenting journey.

Adventures In Odyssey

Adventures in Odyssey is a kids radio program with Christian values.  The 1000 episode will be recorded in 2024.  These audio stories are full of Biblical principles, meaningful conversations, everyday life, and of course, a trip in the imagination station and Whit’s End. Many episodes take the listener through history for a front row seat at historic events.  These stories are family friendly and entertaining for everyone listening.  In addition, they have a kids app that features every episode, Adventures in Odyssey movies, games and fun activities.

Focus on the Family

Focus on the Family is behind Adventures in Odyssey and other quality resources.  Founded on Biblical principles, they support family ministry and are focused on the Gospel.  This ministry has many christian parenting resources, online resources, and practical advice. Focus on the Family even has a christian magazine for not only ministry leaders, but for the next generation.

This ministry has a very helpful resource called Plugged In. Plugged In provides quality reviews on all current media. I use this resource to look up everything! They have very honest reviews that are easy to navigate. Concerned about language or violence? Plugged In will give you the details on everything that is in the movie/book/game/music so you can make an informed decision.  It is a very informative and trustworthy source.

Super Book

Super Book is an animated Bible series that really do stay true to God’s Word.  The story follows the lives of two friends and their robot while they navigate through life’s challanges.  At the moment when they are about to make a decision, Super Book (the Bible) shows up and takes them on an adventure in the Bible that correlates with the Christian principles they need to learn. It is a great resource for Christian parents and kids ministries.  It focuses on the Gospel of Jesus Christ and is good for the entire family.  Super Book, also has a Bible app and a club with a membership. The Super Book club produces and sends resources to your mailbox once a month.

Christian Hero’s Then & Now Series

Christian Hero’s: Then & Now is a series of 50 Christian biographies written for both children and parents.  These biographies are chapter books that highlight the stories of hero’s of the faith, Harriet Tubman, Corrie Ten Boom, Jim Elliot, Elizabeth Elliot, Hudson Taylor, and many other’s.  These stories are truly inspirational and are a wonderful reminder that God is always at work even in hard times.  I am reading many of these books out load to my children.  They are such a good example of the Christian life, spiritual growth, Biblical Truths, and practical applications.  What a gift to give your kids the stories of the best spiritual leaders and heroes of the faith.
