Do you have a desire to have your own blog? Here is how to start a blog in three weeks.
All you need is determination and some good tools. Lisa Bass’s Create Your Blog Dream course and 17th Ave Designs Wordpress themes are the tools that helped me set up a blog in three weeks.
If you have an incredible course, a well designed theme, and a goal, you’re in business.
This blog post does contain affiliate links. If you click on one I may receive a commission so I can continue creating quality content.
First Steps
For new bloggers, the first step is to purchase Lisa’s Create Your Blog Dream course and purchase a theme from 17th Avenue Designs. The next step is to set a launch date.
I started the course the second week of January with the goal to launch February 1st. At the time I launched, I did not have any blog posts up. The launch goal I’m talking about is “going live” means that the Wordpress theme is integrated with the host, it is customized, and ready for content.
Now, if you don’t know what any of that means, it’s okay. That’s right where I was at and why I believe these tools that I am sharing with you are so valuable!
Goals
I have four children and every night I would stay up late to work on setting up the blog in order to reach my goal. I knew that the time I invested in the initial set up would be short lived and I would soon be able to start creating content. Having a three week goal also pushed me to make decisions without overthinking it.
The good news is that by setting a launch date will save you a lot of time in the long run. Remember, you won’t be able to start publishing content and monetizing your blog until it is set up and launched!
Also, your blog doesn’t have to be perfect. Every step is a part of your journey and the more you work at it, the more your blog will become what you want it to be. Also, your traffic will be minimal in the beginning, so you have time to figure it out. The important thing is to get your blog up and running.

This is the reality of how unglamorous it was to be working late into the night, going on little sleep, while raising a family. But it didn’t matter. This picture was taken the night I launched my blog on February 1st. I met my three week goal! Shopping With Lori was officially live and I was thrilled.
Since I was brand new to blogging, I had no idea how to incorporate the theme with my host. It all was a foreign language. Thankfully I was enrolled in Lisa Bass’s Create Your Blog Dream blogging course and she lead me through every step of the way. As I was incorporating my theme and making the website design my own, I was constantly referring back to 17th Avenue Designs tutorials.
Choosing Your Theme
When I started on the blogging journey, I knew esthetic was important to me. One thing I did not want to do is spend all the time and effort setting up a blog theme that I really didn’t love.
Some quality advice Lisa shared was to not spend too much time on choosing the blog name, theme, colors, etc. I knew that the most important thing was to just start and get the ball rolling.
Thankfully, it did not take me very long to find 17th Avenue Designs. I was thrilled to choose one of their beautiful themes. The huge plus side was that they offer a library of step-by-step tutorials that coincides with specific themes to help you along the way.
What I like About 17th Avenue Designs
Known for their feminine designs, 17th Avenue Designs has a variety of beautiful themes that are stylish, customizable, and affordable. 17th Avenue Designs advertises having feminine Wordpress themes. I chose the Mia theme and could not be happier.
In case you don’t have the time to set up your blog, 17th Avenue Designs does offer installation services for a fee. This is a good way to go if you do not have the time to put into building your blog. The downside of this route is that you don’t get to know your blog. Doing all the work yourself helps you understand and know your blog better in the long run.
Honestly, their tutorials are so helpful and easy to understand. Wordpress can be daunting. By following the course and taking advantage of all the tutorials, I really do believe this is the easiest way to get to know your blog.
Invest in a Quality Course

I came across this course on Instagram and saw that Lisa Bass from Farm House on Boone was having a webinar to talk about her blogging journey and advertise her course. By the end of the webinar I had purchased the course and was excited to start my blogging journey!
Yes, she was that convincing. Lisa’s story is inspiring and she is so relatable. Her down to earth personality and to the point instruction makes the course enjoyable and easy to follow. It really is the ultimate guide to getting started and the best way to begin your blogging journey.
This step-by-step guide not only focuses on the main points of blogging, but covers everything from the initial blog set up, affiliate marketing, setting up and growing an email list, choosing the right host, creating content, social media, the list goes on. Lisa also focuses on teaching about organic traffic, email marketing, website traffic, high-quality content, search engine optimization, and keyword research.
What I Like About The Create You Blog Dream Course
The thing I love about Lisa is her honesty and real life experience running a very successful blog (all while having a growing family!). Another aspect I enjoyed was that Lisa breaks the course into manageable, concise videos.
These instructional videos are packed full of quality content. She even films her screen as she walks through setting up a new blog, making it easy to follow along. The information received is invaluable to starting a blog off well. This course is an investment that will keep on giving. I continue to go back and rewatch the videos in order to help me improve and continue to learn.
Another perk of purchasing this course is the members only Facebook group where members share blogposts, ideas, and pin each other’s posts. We also ask a lot of questions all while sharing a lot of content with each other. It has been an extremely helpful tool for me in my blogging journey and very encouraging!
