When Did I Start Reselling?
Poshmark was only a few years old at the time I joined in January 2017. After selling thrifted clothing on another platform and not making much progress, I decided to give Poshmark a try. A few days later, I made my first sale. I had thrifted a beautiful pink Patagonia Re-Toole fleece for $5 and sold it for $65. I was hooked!
What About Staging Pictures?
Did I have the best picture? No! I had no idea how to stage a picture and I’m pretty sure one of the pictures was blurry. Do I recommend learning how to take a good picture? Yes! But that come’s with experience and practice. I want to show you this example because the most important thing is to START.
The picture of these beautiful shoes are an example of what type of staging I do now with items I am selling. I will do another post about staging in the future! You will learn and improve along the way.
So why does Poshmark work?
Poshmark is a social platform. This is one of the many reason why I believe I have had success with it. Really, it’s up to you how much you can sell by utilizing the sharing tool that automatically puts your listing first in the category every single time you share. That means the more you share, the more eyes are on your product and the more sales you will make. The effort you put into it is what you’ll get out of it.
What can I list on Poshmark?
Essentially, you can list anything you want to sell. Poshmark is best known for their clothing, shoes and accessory categories, but they have recently expanded to home, pets, electronics, luxury, beauty/wellness, boutiques and they even have a wholesale category.
Where do I start?
Your own closet is a great place to start. If you want to try your hand at reselling, go to your local thrift store and see what you can find! The great thing about reselling is that you are likely to find more items when you are not looking for yourself. Try sourcing in every department.
Are there any costs involved?
Poshmark is a free app and it does not cost you anything to post items. Another big plus in my book! They do take 20% of your sale, but they make up for it by taking care of all your shipping needs. Yes! You don’t have to worry about weighing, measuring, or deciding whether or not to charge your customer shipping. Poshmark has worked it out with USPS to provide a flat rate shipping for their customers. The customer pays the shipping and Poshmark sends you a label to print out and put on your package. How easy is that?
