For the New Mom
#1. Go-to bag styles for the active moms.
You need a reliable, functional, stylish bag that will hold everything. There can never be too many pockets, compartments, or space. This bag needs to be easy and portable. Here are two tried and true brands.
Dagne Dover Diaper Bag and Back Pack
Dagne Dover is the perfect mix of functional meets designer bag. The neoprene exterior is easy to wipe clean and the shoulder straps are so comfortable! This bag does have a laptop sleeve, large compartments, and exterior pockets for quick access to important items. This is the perfect backpack for the working mom. It can easily be worn to the office, coffee shop, and to a ball game. But this backpack is large enough to hold extra diapers, a change of clothes, and personal items as well. It really is a great mom bag and can be a functional backpack for years to come. If you want to read my full review why this is one of the best backpacks, click here.
Petunia Picklebottom Bags
This bag company has been around for a while, but they remain a classic and are a very stylish diaper bag. I carried one of their messenger bag diaper bag styles for years when some of my children were babies. Their changing pad was my favorite parts since it zips right up into the bag. Some of their fabric is a water resistant material, making it very easy to clean and wipe down. Other features are the adjustable shoulder strap, stroller straps, side pockets. Petunia Picklebottom also makes a backpack diaper bag, which I can image is as highly functional and thought out as their messenger style bags.
For the Mom of Toddlers and Little’s
#2. Go-to bag styles for the active moms.
Hooray! You no longer need a diaper bag and you can finally carry a real bag. The only thing is that your child isn’t potty trained, you’re still carrying around diapers, sippy cups, and snacks. This stage takes a bag that is large enough to fit your needs, but nice enough to carry on a daily basis. Here are a few suggestions for the perfect mom bag of toddlers and littles.
Kavu Sling Bags
The Kavu sling bags are a great option for a medium size bag. This bag has an easy access front pockets and comes in different colors and prints. The Kavu brand is known for their outdoor friendly designs and are a great designed for active moms on the go. This bag will fit diapers, wipes, and snacks. It is a good choice if you like a large main compartment with a spacious interior, zipper closure and an adjustable strap. This is a great bag for everyday items and was a favorite bag of mine for years. Especially when my kids were out of the baby stage, but I still needed to carry wipes and an extra change of clothes!
Topo Canvas Backpack
Topo is a versatile brand that was rooted in mountains, but designed to be versatile enough to be worn in the city. This bag is known for their simple design, functionality, and clean look. It’s on the smaller side for a backpack, making this bag the perfect bag for the active moms of littles and toddlers.
For the Mom of Older Children
#3. Go-to bag styles for the active moms.
You’ve now graduated to a fully functional small bag that is made for you (and maybe a few extra granola bars for your children). Here are my top picks.
Lululemon Belt Bag
This belt bag is a great size and for sure is my top pick for the season of motherhood I am currently in. It is has enough space to hold all the essentials and perfect for the mom on the go. The crossbody strap is thick and sturdy. It also has zippered pockets, great for everyday use. This is a great bag for busy moms.
Patagonia Atom Sling Bag
You can’t go wrong with a Patagonia bag. It is durable and ready for every adventure, including adventures with your kids. What I like about this bag is the padded shoulder strap, the size, and functionality. From my experience, Patagonia products will last for many years. This Atom Sling Bag can easily be carried by mom or dad.
There are so many quality companies that make great bags for moms. The few I highlighted are personal favorites. I would highly recommend exploring outdoor companies for quality bags once you graduate from the diaper bag/backpack stage. Many of the outdoor companies have durable bags for you and your littles for any adventure.
