Maternity Capsule Wardrobe Guide For Every Trimester

Sharing is caring!

Congratulations!  With baby on the way, it’s time for you to start planning on dressing for your baby bump.  In this Maternity Capsule Wardrobe Guide For Every Trimester you will find style inspiration and a free printable. Personally, I love maternity wear and am convinced that with the right pieces, you will too.  Pull from a few of your non-maternity items in your closet and have fun investing in new key pieces that can be worn throughout your entire pregnancy journey.

First Trimester

The first trimester is a great time to keep an eye on maternity wear sales and stock up for your maternity wardrobe. It’s all about being comfortable as your baby grows.  If you tend to get nauseous, I would highly recommend investing in a pair of maternity jeans early on. Oversized sweaters and leggings are perfect additions to your maternity capsule wardrobe.

Second Trimester

The second trimester is the ideal time to invest more effort and time into curating the perfect maternity capsule wardrobe.  Invest in staple pieces and embrace your personal style.  One of the first things I invest in is maternity underwear.  Maternity underwear will give some extra comfort throughout the entire pregnancy.  Pregnant in the summer? Invest in a maternity swimsuit that you can feel great in.  Enjoy wearing comfortable clothes throughout the second trimester that show off your growing baby bump.

Third Trimester

By the third trimester your belly has grown and your body is preparing to meet your little one.  Choose maternity outfits that are very comfortable and compliment your baby bump. For a casual look, try flared maternity leggings with an oversized shirt, sneakers, your favorite denim jacket and baseball hat.  Investing in a maternity dress that can be layered is another option.  Choose a dress that can be worn for a special occasion and another dress that is a bit more versatile. For a maternity capsule wardrobe, try and get the most wear by choosing a style that will compliment your changing body.

  1. Love this!! I’m giving birth in a few weeks and wish I would’ve found this sooner!! Will definitely have to keep in mind for the next baby 🙂

  2. Love these ideas! I’m in the same boat, due in a few weeks so wish I would have found it sooner! Will definitely reference again much earlier in the next pregnancy 🙂

  3. Great ideas, Lori! Pregnant with #4 and you are spot-on for the third trimester go-to outfits. Fun note, I have found this pregnancy that my local Kohl’s actually has a better maternity selection than it did during previous pregnancies.
